At just 19 years old, Steve Redstorm burst onto the melodic hard rock scene with his groundbreaking debut album "No Exception of a Victim of Crime" (1990). Growing up in northern Sweden, Redstorm's musical journey began early, mastering multiple instruments including keyboard at age seven, drums at thirteen, and finally finding his true calling with electric guitar and vocals at fifteen.
Heavily influenced by the titans of rock and metal - Metallica, Whitesnake, and Black Sabbath - Redstorm developed a unique sound that combined the raw energy of heavy metal with melodic sophistication. His guitar work showed clear inspiration from virtuosos like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Yngwie Malmsteen, while maintaining his own distinctive style. This debut album showcased not only his exceptional guitar skills but also his ability to craft compelling melodies and powerful vocal performances.
What set "No Exception of a Victim of Crime" apart was its mature songwriting and professional production quality, remarkable for an artist of his age. The album featured nine tracks that ranged from high-energy rockers to emotionally charged power ballads, all tied together by Redstorm's impressive guitar work and passionate vocals. Songs like "Victim of Crime" and "No Exception" demonstrated his ability to combine technical prowess with memorable hooks, while "Side of Love" showed his more melodic side.
Following this debut, Redstorm continued to evolve as an artist, completing his second album "To Trust A Statesman" two years later which is a little bit softer sound compared to the Victim of Crime album but as melodic as it should be as Steve Redstorm's speciality.
